Chương 1: The Heavenly Demon
REINCARNATION HEAVENLY DEMON IN A WORLD OF MAGIC · Bndar · 26 chương · ~15 phút đọc · Tạo 19/08/2026
The battlefield had no sky. Not anymore. Smoke had swallowed the stars hours ago, turning the heavens into a ceiling of black ash. The moon was nothing more than a pale blur behind the clouds, and the ground beneath the feet of thousands of martial artists had become a mixture of mud, blood, and broken weapons. Screams rose from every direction. Steel clashed. Bodies fell. And at the center of it all stood one man. Park Suho. The Heavenly Demon.
His black robes were torn in several places, stained so thoroughly with blood that their original color had become difficult to distinguish. Long black hair fell across his face, and a thin stream of blood ran from the corner of his mouth. Yet he remained standing. Around him lay dozens of bodies. Some belonged to the Demonic Cult. Most belonged to the Murim Alliance. More enemies continued to approach. Hundreds. Perhaps thousands. Suho slowly exhaled. His breath emerged white in the cold night.
Inside his body, Internal Energy moved through his meridians like a raging river. His heart beat once. Boom. A pulse of Internal Energy spread through his body. His muscles tightened. His vision sharpened. The world became quiet. For a brief moment, the screams disappeared. The swords disappeared. The thousands of enemies disappeared. There was only his breathing. And the man standing before him. An old man wearing white robes. One of the Alliance's strongest martial artists.
The old man tightened his grip around his sword.
"Park Suho." Suho looked at him. The old man's eyes were filled with hatred.
"You have nowhere left to run." Suho glanced behind him. The Demonic Cult's banner was barely visible through the smoke. Most of its forces had already fallen. He looked forward again. The Murim Alliance stretched across the battlefield like an endless tide. A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Run?" His voice was hoarse.
"I am the Heavenly Demon." He slowly raised his hand. The surrounding air trembled.
"I don't run." The old man's expression changed.
"Attack!" The battlefield exploded. Thousands of martial artists charged simultaneously. Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. Suho stepped forward. The first sword came from his left. He tilted his head. The blade passed beside his cheek. His fingers closed around the attacker's wrist. Crack. The wrist broke. Suho turned his body and used the man's momentum to throw him into three others. Another sword came from behind. Without looking back, Suho raised two fingers.
Clang! The blade stopped between them. Internal Energy burst from his fingers. The sword shattered. Suho moved. One step. Two. Three. His body disappeared into the crowd. Every movement was precise. Every strike had a purpose. He did not waste energy. He did not fight beautifully. He fought to survive. A palm strike crushed a man's chest. A kick broke another's knee. A short movement of his shoulder sent a spear flying past him. He caught it. Turned. Threw. The spear pierced three enemies in a straight line.
Blood sprayed across the ground. Yet more came. Suho's breathing became heavier. His Internal Energy was beginning to weaken. Even the Heavenly Demon had limits. He had been fighting for hours. His body had accumulated injuries that would have killed ordinary martial artists long ago. A cut across his abdomen. A deep wound in his shoulder. Two broken ribs. Blood loss. Fatigue. And still the Alliance kept coming. Suho wiped the blood from his mouth.
"So this is your final move?" No answer. The Alliance's forces surrounded him. The old man raised his sword.
"Today, the Demonic Cult ends." Suho looked at the countless people surrounding him. Then he laughed. Not loudly. Not crazily. Just once. A tired laugh.
"You needed the entire Murim Alliance…" His eyes became cold.
"…to kill one man." The old man's expression darkened.
"Enough!" The surrounding martial artists attacked. Suho prepared to move. Then— A familiar presence appeared behind him. His eyes widened slightly. He recognized that aura. He knew that presence. He had trusted it more than anyone else in this world. His wife. Suho did not turn around. For the first time that night, he hesitated. A sharp pain suddenly erupted from his back. Something pierced through his body. Suho's eyes widened. The blade emerged from beneath his ribs. Blood dripped from its tip. Silence.
The battlefield seemed to freeze. Suho slowly looked down. Then he looked over his shoulder. She stood behind him. His wife. Her hands trembled around the sword. Her eyes avoided his. For several seconds, neither spoke. Suho's expression was strangely calm.
"…You." Her lips moved.
"I'm sorry." The sword twisted. Blood filled Suho's mouth. He coughed. A few drops landed on the ground. Around them, the Murim Alliance watched in silence. Suho finally understood. The enemy in front of him had never been the only enemy. He looked at the sword inside his body. Then at her.
"How long?" She said nothing.
"How long have you been planning this?" Still nothing. Suho laughed quietly. He could feel his Internal Energy collapsing. His meridians were damaged. His organs had been pierced. His strength was leaving his body. Yet strangely… He wasn't angry. Not anymore. He had spent his entire life climbing toward the peak. He had conquered enemies. Built the Demonic Cult. Walked through rivers of blood. He had thought that reaching the summit would make him understand the world.
But now, as death approached, he realized something. The summit was lonely. Very lonely. Suho slowly pulled himself away from the blade. His wife stumbled backward. He turned to face the Alliance. Blood poured from his wound. His legs shook. But he remained standing. The old man stared at him in disbelief.
"You're still standing?" Suho looked toward the dark sky. A single thought crossed his mind. So this is death. He had expected fear. There was none. He had expected regret. There was surprisingly little. Only one thought remained. If I had another life… Suho closed his eyes. I would live differently. His body finally collapsed. The sound of his knees hitting the ground was almost impossible to hear beneath the battlefield. The Heavenly Demon fell. The man who had terrified the Murim world for decades was gone.
His consciousness faded. The screams became distant. The cold disappeared. The darkness swallowed everything. Then— Warmth. That was the first thing he felt. Warmth. Not blood. Not mud. Not steel. Warmth. His body felt impossibly small. His limbs were weak. His breathing was shallow. He tried to move. Nothing happened. Suho frowned. … Where am I? He tried to open his eyes. Light flooded his vision. Everything was blurry. Shapes moved above him. Voices surrounded him.
"He's breathing!" A woman's voice. Young. Exhausted. Relieved.
"He's really breathing!" Another voice answered. A man's voice.
"Thank the heavens." Suho froze. What? He tried to speak. His throat produced a strange sound.
"Ah…" The woman gasped.
"He opened his eyes." Someone picked him up. His body was wrapped in cloth. Suho's mind raced. Why can't I move? He tried to raise his hand. A tiny hand appeared in front of his face. Small. Soft. Completely unfamiliar. Suho stared. Silence filled his mind. Then one thought emerged. …What? He looked at the woman holding him. She was crying. Not from sadness. From happiness. She pressed him against her chest.
"My baby…" Suho's eyes widened. Baby? He looked down again. His tiny fingers moved. His breathing stopped for a moment. He understood. Slowly. Terrifyingly. He understood. I died. And I was reborn. The woman kissed his forehead.
"You survived, Leo." Suho froze. Leo. The name meant nothing to him. It belonged to this body. This life. This family. This world. His mind remained completely intact. He remembered everything. The Murim Alliance. The battlefield. His wife. The sword. His death. Nothing had been erased. Not a single memory. His eyes slowly closed. Inside the body of a newborn child, the Heavenly Demon remained silent. There was no god. No voice. No mysterious system. No prophecy. No explanation. Only a second life.
And for the first time in decades… Park Suho had nowhere to go. No sect to command. No enemies to kill. No throne to defend. No title to carry. Only a name he had never heard before. Leo. His new life had begun. And somewhere beyond the walls of the small house, beneath a sky he had never seen before, a world governed not by Internal Energy… But by Magic… waited for him. End of Chapter 1.
