The switch from the Glimpse's violent end to mundane reality was jarring as per usual, but this time, it was also strangely thrilling. There was no gasp of terror, no lingering phantom pains from being wiped out. Instead, a weird, unstoppable chuckle was caught in my throat, a bubble of amusement that threatened to burst. The [Glimpse of a Path] had been incredibly enlightening, to say the very least.

The powerful, ancient being in the Crucible of Inner Flame wasn't just extremely strong; he was an entity of almost theatrical arrogance. Think… wide-eyed, innocent forest creature awed by true divinity. Jeeves, you…

well, you be Jeeves, but perhaps a slightly more overtly deferential version, if such a thing is possible, at least initially. No brilliant strategic observations unless specifically requested, and even then, frame them in terms of seeking his enlightened guidance. We play his game, entirely by his rules. He wants to impart his wisdom to a 'deserving disciple.' We just need to convince him I am that disciple. The most deserving, most respectful, most promising disciple he's ever encountered.

Feigning intense, almost painful concentration (though the solution was already crystal clear in my mind from the Glimpse), I reached out a trembling hand and began to manipulate the glowing facets of the cube. "Indeed it would, little spark. Indeed it would. Very well. Your earnest desire, your commendable humility, and your surprising aptitude have moved me. Your journey into the true nature of Soulfire, into the burning heart of reality that underpins the nature of an Aura Domain, begins now. Attend closely, little disciple, for the first lesson is always the most profound…" The air in the Crucible shimmered, the heat intensifying, the golden light growing almost incandescent.
