His tailored, midnight-blue uniform was immaculate, its stark lines broken only by the crimson piping of his rank and the silver sigil of his House — a coiled void-wyrm crushing a star. "The final harvest from the provincial Gauntlets is complete, Lord Vorr," Commander Vayne reported, her voice crisp and precise. Holographic files bloomed before her.

"From an initial pool of approximately twelve thousand extreme tutorial survivors from the last major cycle, attrition has left us with one-thousand nine-hundred and forty-seven individuals who have achieved a Tier 3 rating or higher. They are en route to Akkadia as we speak. A robust and promising yield for this 'vintage'." Hadrian absorbed the information with a slow, deliberate nod.

"Adequate, Commander. And the qualitative analysis? Beyond raw numbers, have we identified any individuals of particular note?"

"Affirmative, my Lord," Centurion Kaelus boomed, his deep baritone resonating with authority. He gestured to the main display, where a dozen portraits now appeared, highlighted in gold.

"These are the first-place victors from each of the primary sectors. We have a diverse and potent mix. A Dweorg Runesmith from the Ironstone Deep who demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for defensive earth-magic, capable of transmuting battlefield terrain. A S'skarr Blademaster from the Sun-Scorched Sands who fought with a speed that bordered on preternatural, his movements leaving after-images.

Two baseline humans of particular note — a berserker-class warrior from the southern plains who displayed immense, if undisciplined, raw power, and an archer from the Silverwood Reach with a unique, high-yield energy skill of unknown origin."

"This archer," Seraphina interjected softly, her iridescent eyes clouded in thought.

"My empaths on-site noted a peculiar resonance from her. A profound, almost unshakable core of will, but one wrapped in deep, searching grief. She is driven by something more than simple ambition. A powerful, but potentially unstable, motivator."

"All powerful motivators are a degree of unstable, Advisor," Hadrian stated coolly.

"It is our task to channel that instability into a productive vector for the Empire. Commander Vayne, ensure this 'Archer' and the other victors are assigned a priority-one observation detail upon their arrival." Vayne's cybernetic eye whirred softly.

"It will be done, Lord Vorr." Vayne swiped a hand through the air, and the data morphed into a detailed demographic breakdown.

"Initial census integrations are nearing completion, my Lord. The baseline human population remains the overwhelming majority, numbering approximately twenty-two billion souls planet-wide. Resilient, adaptable, and prolific. Following them are the Dweorg, a sturdy and industrious race, numbering just over five billion, primarily concentrated in their deep-earth holds." More images appeared: the serpentine S'skarr and two other distinct species.

One was a tall, slender race with skin like polished mahogany and long, elegant limbs — the Lorian tree-dwellers. The other was a brutish, gray-skinned race with four powerful, gorilla-like arms and tusks jutting from their lower jaws — the Groknar mountain clans.

"The S'skarr's population is roughly two-hundred million. The remaining thirty million are comprised of various races, primarily the Lorian and the Groknar clans, which have shown to be significant assets. All accounted for, all cataloged. The other matter of note is, as always, the Sanctum vectors." The map on the table shifted at Hadrian's command. Dots of light, scattered across the continents, flared into prominence. Some glowed a loyal, Imperial blue. Others, a cautionary amber. A few, a hostile, defiant red.

"Our long-range resonance scans and deep-cover intelligence now estimate a total of twenty-seven active Sanctum holders on this planet so far," Hadrian said, his voice taking on a harder edge.

"Far exceeding the initial projections. They are the true nascent power-brokers of this world." He gestured to the blue lights.

"Nine have been secured. They have bent the knee, and their Sanctums are now registered Imperial assets, their resources integrated, their dungeons repurposed as loyalist training grounds."

"And the others?" Kaelus grunted.

"The ones who have not yet seen the light of Imperial wisdom?"

"Of the remaining eighteen, eleven are currently designated as neutral but observable," Vayne reported, highlighting the amber dots.

"They guard their secrets, but do not actively oppose us. The Prime Conclave will be our best opportunity to identify many of them and begin the process of… persuasion. Which leaves seven." The red dots on the map seemed to pulse with a malevolent light.

"Seven Sanctum Lords were confirmed as openly hostile," Vayne continued.

"Our loyalist factions could have them all purged within a single cycle."

"A direct military strike is… crude," Hadrian countered, a flicker of disdain in his eyes.

"It breeds martyrs. No. The ideal solution is to allow them to expose themselves during the Conclave. To use their own ambition against them. Let them send their champions. Let them taste the glory of Akkadia. We will identify them, learn their strengths, their weaknesses. Then, when the time is right, we will cut the head from the snake with surgical precision." He stood, his presence seeming to fill the entire command deck.

"Our task is clear. The Prime Conclave is not merely a tournament. It is the greatest intelligence gathering operation and recruitment drive this world will ever see. Vayne, I want every promising contestant, every potential Sanctum Lord, every hint of anomalous power, identified and logged. Seraphina, you will use your empaths to build psychological profiles on our high-value targets. Kaelus, your Vanguards will be the public face of Imperial power — a constant reminder of the order only we can provide."

"Your diligence is commendable," Hadrian said, offering his chiefs a rare, slight inclination of his head.

"You are dismissed." His officers bowed crisply and departed, leaving him alone on the command platform. He strode from the command deck, his polished black boots echoing softly on the void-marble. His destination was not his luxurious private quarters, but a small, starkly utilitarian chamber deep within the station's command spire. The room was a perfect anechoic sphere, its walls lined with matte-black, energy-dampening panels. In the center was a single, high-backed chair facing a black obsidian pillar.

Hadrian sat, the perfect posture of the command deck replaced by a subtle, almost imperceptible tension in his shoulders. He placed his hand on the pillar.

"Activate ansible. Priority channel. Vorr encryption. Authorize." The pillar hummed, and the air before him shimmered, coalescing into a shimmering, life-sized hologram. The image was of a man who shared Hadrian's aristocratic features, but where Hadrian was ice, this man was a raging inferno. He was older, his face harsher, a network of fine scars marring his left cheek — scars he chose to keep. He wore the severe, decorated uniform of a High Marshal of the Kyorian military.

This was Millimos Vorr, Hadrian's eldest brother, a celebrated war hero. The connection was marred by the faintest hint of temporal lag, a ghostly reminder of the incomprehensible distance between them.

"Hadrian," Millimos's voice crackled, devoid of any warmth.

"I trust your gardening is proceeding on schedule?" The condescension was palpable, a familiar needle of disdain that Hadrian had felt his entire life.

"Brother," Hadrian replied, his voice a calm, even sea.

"The harvest is promising. We have identified several high-potential assets, and the integration of the planet is proceeding within expected parameters." A humorless smile touched Millimos's lips.

"Promising primitives are still primitives, Hadrian. Do not mistake a well-tended nursery for a victorious battlefield. You are playing games with children while the rest of us are fighting wars."

"The taming of a world is not won with Legionaries alone," Hadrian countered smoothly, refusing to be drawn.

"Subtlety has its own strategic value, something you have often overlooked." The smile vanished from Millimos' face, replaced by a cold, hard fury.

"Do not lecture me on strategy, little brother," he snarled.

"You are in no position to do so. Father is not in a forgiving mood after the... situation at Cygnus-X1. Our House cannot afford another stain on its honor. Especially not from the 'quiet front'. This world you are playing with is meant to be a flawless victory, a shining example of Vorr efficiency to present to the Emperor. Its resources are needed for my campaigns. Its success is vital to restoring our family's standing." The 'debacle' at Cygnus-X1.

A disastrous military campaign led by another of their siblings, a failure so profound its aftershocks still threatened to diminish their family's centuries-long favor with the Star-Emperor. The pressure on all of them, especially the unproven seventh son, was now immense.

"I am aware of the stakes," Hadrian said, his voice like chilled steel.

"My methods are precise. I will identify the threats, pacify them, and deliver this world's full potential to the Empire on schedule. Its wealth will fuel your armies. Its champions will serve as our new officer class. I have accounted for every variable."

"See that you have," Millimos said, his voice a final, cutting command.

"The Emperor's gaze is upon our House. Father's gaze is upon you. Do not give them a reason to look away in disgust. Do not fail." The hologram dissolved into static, leaving Hadrian alone in the profound, soundless dark. He remained seated for a long moment, the silence of the chamber a heavy, crushing weight. For the first time, a flicker of emotion broke through his icy composure. His jaw tightened, a muscle feathering in his cheek.

His gloved hand clenched into a fist on the armrest, the luxurious leather groaning in protest. He was the seventh son. The gardener. The one sent to tend a quiet world while his brothers fought glorious wars. But they did not see what he saw. They saw primitives to be crushed. He saw raw, untamed power to be harnessed, a grand, intricate game of nations to be played and won. He would not just succeed. He would excel.

He would present this world to his father not just pacified, but perfected, a testament to his own unique, and underestimated, genius. He would build his legacy here, in the shadows, and it would be a legacy that even the great High Marshal Millimos Vorr could not ignore. He stood, his composure perfectly restored, the flicker of emotion ruthlessly suppressed. He walked from the chamber, his steps sure and steady, his mind already turning back to the intricate dance of the Prime Conclave.

He looked out a viewport, down at the shining globe of the planet below, his planet.

"I will not fail," he whispered to the silent, watching stars.
