USER: FopperyandWhim THREAD: Corva, the Maniacal Asshole (and How Everyone Missed Him in Shards of Time) FopperyandWhim (Original Poster) I didn't plan on posting this for a while. I still need to check my grammar and cut down on the rambling. Whenever I read my writing, I always hate how it sounds. But after everything that went down on the main Zeke thread, it's probably best if I just post this now. Hello. I'm FopperyandWhim and I don't post much.
Mostly I just lurk in the threads and read all the comments, and that's because this community isn't the most welcoming to new fans which has made me too intimidated to post much. There are so many in-jokes and shorthands that you all use and I don't understand any of it. It can get kind of confusing and I'm afraid to ask for an explanation because then everyone would jump down my throat. I mean, what the hell even is "bosheet?" Is it supposed to be bullshit? If so, how come nobody just writes out the word?
It makes me cringe every time I see it and makes me feel like I'm on a roblox server or something that doesn't allow cursing. Anyways, you're all in this thread to find out how I found Corva in Shards. So let me preface this with three… prefaces? First, I've never written a Field Report before so I don't know how it's supposed to look. I checked with FarFieldVanishes about formatting, and he basically told me to just wing it.
So that's what I'm going to do and I apologize if it comes out horrible and I break any rules. Second, I haven't written anything since college. Even back then I was always the guy doing the research in the group projects, not the one presenting or writing everything up. So please bear with me if this gets rough in a few places. And third, I'm not a lore nut. I don't know how people go about searching for the hidden lore. I just stumbled across the Corva stuff and I'm presenting it here.
I hope that you can follow the quests and steps that I did, and then someone can write up a legit Field Report for everyone. Instead of posting this all at once, I'll leave a few gaps so that everyone can tell me what I can improve upon. Please remember that this is my first time writing one of these and forgive the mistakes I'm about to make. Now, if you're still reading this you should be able to infer that I'm a relative newcomer to the Fracture-verse.
Binary, in his penny-dreadful style of a villain monologue back in the main thread, talked about how I've only beaten one game and posted four times on this forum. He's right. I only ever finished Tech Reign, and that was because a friend basically bullied me into it. For context, I mostly just play FPS games. I like the fast-pace, the battle-royale gameplay, and anything that lets me zone out and have fun. Then my friend pushed me into Tech Reign and I was OBSESSED.
I didn't 100% it like most of you have, but I did finish it. When I finished it, I found myself craving more. I also started wondering what snippets of content I'd ignored in my race through the game. That got me onto this forum where I eventually stumbled across Zeke's fanfiction thread. Side note - I don't really get everyone's hatred for fanfics. I, for one, absolutely love them. I'm always on AO3 or Fanfiction. net checking out new stories.
There's this one crossover fic of Game of Thrones and the Witcher where Geralt works for the Starks. It's absolutely amazing. It takes two pieces of media that I love and smushes them together to make something even more amazing. DeadMienWalking | I mean, what the hell even is "bosheet?" Is it supposed to be bullshit? | This is just one of those slang words that popped up on the forum.
A poster named SINtillating kept writing his posts on his smartphone, and when he tried to write bullshit (because he was calling out bad theories) his phone kept autocorrecting it to bosheet. The same thing happened when he tried to write damn. His phone autocorrected to dayum. And Jesus became Jeezus. The forum adopted those words because a bunch of posters found it funny that SINtillating's phone was treating him like he was a ten year old and it wasn't letting him curse.
Deatstroke | I don't really get everyone's hatred for fanfics. | A big part of this fandom is made up of people who dislike fanfics and those are the kind of people most knowledgeable about the setting too. Silentcrusader I think the fandom has soured or aged, leaving only a few trickles of new fans and then the old school, absolutely uninterested in RP, or the kind of forum goer that doesn't usually indulge in RP. PatchNoteLarry ^Silent.
Considering Zeke's fanfic is ALL about the RP, that pisses a lot of people off. Lorem-Ipsum Jeezus. Can you get to the damn point? How'd you stumble across Corva in Shards? You wasted 500 words by giving us a backstory that none of us care about. That's not what a Field Report is. We don't need to hear your entire life story because you drop the steps you took to find one of the most important NPCs in the lore. ArtooDeetoa Why not just stop reading Lorem? I'm loving it.
It's like one of those heist movies where the music keeps building and building as the team comes together and starts their crime. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. FopperyandWhim (Original Poster) Why I Picked the Worst Possible Game After finishing Tech Reign I wanted more. Naturally, I looked into playing Frontiers. It was the next obvious game for me to play, what with how much Zeke's story pulls from it. I even checked out the Zeke-run threads that people were posting in and found it absolutely fascinating.
So naturally, I made my purchase, downloaded my game, and got started with Shards of Time. That same friend that suggested Tech Reign had conned me into playing Shards, the clunky, half-finished, bastard step-child of the Fracture-verse. It's also the one game in the series that everyone tells you to skip unless you're really committed to the lore. In hopes of making the game more playable I did two things.
First, I downloaded a bunch of mods that would cut down on the motion sickness inherent in the early VR-style of the game. They barely worked and I still found myself constantly nauseous. Second, I decided to adopt the philosophy behind the Zeke-run in my own playthrough. By that I mean that I decided to play the game like I'd been isekai'd into it. I played cautiously and tried to avoid all unnecessary risks. AND, I decided to add one more constraint to my playthrough, which was that I didn't pick up a class.
If you've played Shards, then you'd know how difficult it is to complete the game without a class. The thing practically throws classes in your path. All the early questlines try to foist a class off onto you and you have to keep rejecting them. Plus, there's the unanchored tag which also messes with you if you go classless for too long. The unanchored tag means that you're not properly tied into the world. Even if you haven't played Shards, you should still recognize the unanchored tag from Zeke's fanfic.
It's what forced him to venture out into the Deadlands with Corva, so he could adventure and try to earn a class before he poofed out of existence. Here's the thing: the unanchored tag isn't always recognized as canon by lore theorists. First, Shards is the only game that has the tag. If you try to do a classless run on any other game, you won't be hampered by the tag. Second, you can never see if your character has the tag or not.
There's no option to open your character screen and see big red letters that say UNANCHORED. The way you get the tag is through completing specific quests or traveling to certain regions. The game will do a spot check on your character and, if it sees that you're classless, it will trigger the tag. When that happens you have 21 in-game days before your character up and deletes itself. When I started playing Shards I didn't have the intention to prove any lore regarding the unanchored tag.
I was just trying to enjoy myself as a classless nobody for most of the game. Thus, I tried to stay away from the known questlines and regions that would trigger the spot check. The three regions that are confirmed in the wiki to have connections with the unanchored tag are: the Cinder Expanse, the Glass Archives of Lethoras, and the Pilgrim's Hollow. There's also the Veilstrider questline "Between the Stations" that activates the unanchored tag.
With that in mind, I did my best to stay far away from those locations and instead just "enjoy" the rest of the game. Of course, that didn't really work out well for me. Mirin' Ooo, a call out for the Zeke-run enthusiasts. I love those threads and it's nice that it's getting more and more focus. The community grew a ton with the whole House of Seasons lore, so I can imagine how many people are going to join after finding out that Zeke was right about Corva.
Coledon | It's also the one game in the series that everyone tells you to skip unless you're really committed to the lore. | Lol, because everyone has been too busy trying not to throw up from the motion blur to realize where Corva's hidden. VeneratedWitchHunter The Glass Archives of Lethoras is THE best dungeon in the Fracture-verse. Fight me on it. StoryLeech | Fight me on it. | I want to, especially since it comes from Shards and we all know the game is shit. But I actually do like the Glass Archives.
It's the only redeemable thing from Shards. That and the glyph making system. SpicyShoyu I ran a Glass Archives dungeon for my DnD group. Do you know how difficult it is to do a time loop DnD game? It's not even a real time loop. It's more like a time… oroborous. It was such a pain. Cool dungeon tho. TVEye Oh snap. We should get Zeke to travel out to Shards and run the Glass Archives. I would love to read a write-up from him. The only difficulty there though is…
can you do a "choose-your-own-adventure" through the forum? It would require a bunch of coding and links and other things. That's got to be maddening to try and pull off. ShivSays First Zeke would need to get his OC out of the Witness' Chambers alive. Then we'd need to convince him to keep working on his fanfic. Binary going all asshole with the Primary slot might have turned him off of the whole thing.
FopperyandWhim (Original Poster) The Broken Causeway (or How I Lost 21 Days of My Life) According to the wiki, there are three regions and one questline that would activate the hidden unanchored tag. But the wiki is wrong because there's another quest and/or region that is associated with the tag. This is where things are going to get a little confusing. Like I said earlier, I'm not a lore theorist and I don't know how this normally goes. I found the Corva stuff, but I'm not sure exactly what triggered it.
I'm going to write up everything like it's one of Zeke's adventures and you can all run through it to try and nail down exactly what triggered the appearance of Corva. You're going to want to start with the mid-game quest called "A Bridge Between Two." That quest has you talk with an old NPC camped out on the side of the road and he tasks you with escorting him through the region.
It looks like a normal escort quest at first, but after having played everything and eventually run into Corva, I'm thinking that this quest - and a few others like it - might be required to unlock him. I picked up the quest in the Juntai region. There's an old NPC named "Old Man" and you can find him stumbling about the place. When you talk with him he immediately latches onto your character and starts mumbling a bunch of half-sentences that don't really make any sense.
"You don't look tied down."
"This is dangerous. Very dangerous."
"Bridges are for crossing. They've always been for crossing." Like most people, I believe escort quests are the absolute worst types of quests. They're super annoying, the person you're escorting always moves too fast for walking and too slow for jogging so you're stuck in this weird middle ground between the two. Plus, the AI for the escortee is always shit. The only good escort quest in the history of gaming was Bioshock Infinite.
BUT, this quest is supposed to allow access to the Marionette questline in Tunkeff, and I've heard that it's pretty fun. So I accepted the quest and went on my way. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. All you need to do is guide the Old Man through the Juntai region and you're finished, but that's easier said than done. The Old Man is a pain in the ass.
Sometimes he wanders off without telling you and you find that he's been gone for five minutes while you've been on autorun. Sometimes he'll just stand there and won't move no matter what you do. All he'll do is whisper under his breath for a few seconds before finally coming out of his mental haze. Eventually he'll guide you to the Broken Causeway, which is this massive, crumbling bridge. When you lead him to the bridge he starts mumbling a little bit more. Halfway across the bridge, I hit a checkpoint.
There was a subtle hitch in the game that let me know it autosaved. I didn't think much of it at the time, instead just finished the quest and turned it in. What I didn't know, but now suspect, is that the autosave was when the game checked my character out and flagged me as unanchored. It also started the timer. You can find the videos I took of my walkthrough for the quest, along with the autosave on the Broken Causeway here: <CAUSEWAY_AUTOSAVE. mp4> <BROKEN_CAUSEWAY_CLIP. mp4> <OLD_MAN_BRIDGE_QUEST.
mp4> Fast forward 21 in-game days and I was clearing out this small hideout of scavengers. The place didn't have a name or anything, and it wasn't attached to any quest. It was simply three scavengers hanging out in this small hideout that I decided to storm. Since I was classless and all my skills were SLOWLY ranking up in the game, I had to get a little bit creative when fighting them.
I was only Rank 4 with my guns and wasn't at all confident in my ability to take down three scavengers geared up with better armor and weapons. I spent about twenty minutes setting up the battlefield, using rocks to create noise and pull each of the scavengers into different rooms throughout the hideout. When I finally managed to isolate the three of them, I pounced. Knife work and stealth took down two of them, and the third required an entire magazine from my pistol.
Here is the video of my fight: <uta_hideout_fight. mp4> It might not have anything to do with the unanchored tag. I mostly just want to brag about how well I did. After killing the last scavenger this sense of pride and accomplishment washed over me. It was like I'd just unlocked a Vader skin after playing the game for months. But then the game froze. I was shunted back to the main menu. There wasn't any window that popped up with an error message or a crash report or anything like that.
I tried reloading my last save, thinking that maybe it was just a bug or something, but nope. The save file was corrupted. But that was fine because I had backups… right? Cloud saves are a thing and the game surely had to have autosaved no more than 30 minutes before the crash. Again… nope. ALL my saves had been corrupted. There was only one save that loaded and it was the save that happened right before I stepped onto the Broken Causeway. Everything after that had been completely wiped. I…
did not handle that well. I raged, cursed, wanted to punch things, and was forced to go outside to smoke a cigarette and calm down. While sitting in my smoking chair outside, I started wondering if there was some way I could get my saves back. And if there wasn't, I started questing if I even wanted to keep playing Shards. Venerated might hate it when I say Shards is not a great game. I had so much more fun with Tech Reign and I heard that Null Protocol is pretty good too.
I could have also played Frontiers and done a Zeke-run in that. With Shards being so shit, losing all my progress, and the fact that I still feel like vomiting whenever I play the game too long, I was this close to uninstalling the whole thing and throwing in the towel. But instead of doing anything rash, I took a break, pulled out my phone, and started reading through the forum. At the time, Crush had just become the Primary for Zeke and somehow convinced him to head into the Under-MIZ to take on the Reclaimer.
Zeke was in the Crushed Skirt and a bunch of forum posters were spamming his thread. 7Spirals was trying to guide him to loot spots in the Under-MIZ while others were messing with him by giving unsolicited advice or just badgering him for more info about Corva. I mostly just stayed out of the convo and read the thread while I smoked. There was one post that caught my attention though. It was from some guy named Roderick-Vivar and he was tossing randomness into the thread to try and get a reaction out of Zeke.
He said that he'd dreamt about Zeke's fanfic and in his dream he had to deal with a corrupted save file or something. Up until then I'd always assumed save files were handled through the cloud. I know you'll all probably complain about that, but I've mostly stuck to online games where everything is saved on a server. Anyways, I asked the guy about his dream and he mentioned heading into his save folder but his save had been changed to Corva, and that got me thinking.
If the files on my computer hold all my save data, then maybe my saves weren't entirely gone. With any luck I might be able to jury rig them back together and not be forced to start over. So I went digging through the game files. Unfortunately, save files are difficult to read because they're encoded with all sorts of letters and numbers. From what I could make out, each save file holds a decision string. It's sort of like a compressed history of everything that your character has done in the game.
Imagine your decision string looks like this: aK9x2T2mQ006rV7ppLZ4bHun8. The aK9 at the beginning correlates to what ranks your character has in various skills. The 006 at the midpoint means that your character chose Option A for Quest X. The Hun8 at the end means that your character has 80 health and 12 mp. All of those strings of letters and numbers mean something.
When I started poking into my save files, I noticed a clear difference between the saves I made before stepping out onto the Broken Causeway, and those made after. There was a new segment added to the string, and it said x1g. My game had autosaved at 22: 03: 34 and there was no x1g at that time. When I hit the Broken Causeway, my game autosaved at 22: 04: 47, and created the x1g tag.
I'm pretty sure that's where the unanchored tag shows up because all subsequent saves after that had the same x1g bit in the decision string. What it does is it tells the game not to load this character after 21 in-game days. Here's the weird part. While scouring the game files, I found another save file hidden away from everything else. It was in a random folder and I would have missed it if I hadn't been staring at saves all day long.
There was one key difference between that hidden save and all the ones I'd been fiddling around with. The hidden save had been timestamped 22: 04: 48 which was after I walked across the Broken Causeway, but it didn't have the x1g string attached to it. That got me curious so I copied it over to my main save folder, booted up the game and loaded the save. To my surprise, it worked. I was back on the Broken Causeway after getting the unanchored tag.
I'd still lost those 21 in-game days of progress, but something weird was going on here so I decided to just roll with it. OldManKiyote | I'd always assumed save files were handled through the cloud. | Ouch. That comment made my back hurt and gave me arthritis. Hey Foppery, do you know what the save icon is supposed to represent? HandsWithoutArms Yea. That got me too. I was watching a tiktok and it said "90s was the decade of wood panel furniture."
It had all these pictures of wood panel stuff and one of them was a VHS cabinet and my family had that exact same one. Then I remembered that the 90s was so long ago and got incredibly sad. BaryBybax I've still got my old floppy disk tower sitting on my desk. I miss floppies. It always felt good when I took a sharpie to a new floppy and wrote out what it was holding. MushroomCleric Talking about useless and outdated shit, Binary's gone awfully quiet lately.
Where is that [censored]* * I need to censor myself or I'll end up with a temp ban like Crush did. CrimsonProphecy88 Having Crush get banned and not Binary leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Cold_Reboot Right? Who would have thought that I'd actually be missing that combat goblin? SixtySix | leaves a bad taste in my mouth. | I swear I've been drinking pineapple juice all week. It can't be me. GnomelandSecurity Jeezus 66. Go back to the lemons side of the forum. I don't want to hear your perviness today.
BrightSky18 It's kind of hypocritical for users like Binary to declare themselves the be-all and end-all judge of what is and isn't canon lore, when he and most of the other "lore experts" skipped Shards of Time. Even if the game itself sucked, it's still canon, and was described as being the most ambitious game in the series, so it's bound to have a lot of lore unknown to the community. ShivSays I'm not sure if he skipped it or not, but I do agree that the game hasn't been as dissected as all the others.
It's probably because anyone who's got that weak constitution keeps vomiting whenever they try to play it. I remember playing for about 30 minutes then stopping to do something else. When I took off the VR set it felt like my body was out of sync with itself. I kept trying to reach out to pick things up but misjudged everything by like two inches. It was maddening. That happens EVERY time I've tried playing Shards. I'm more than willing to have everyone else play it and tell me what the lore is.
But then again, I'm not one of the posters who brags about knowing all the lore like Binary. FopperyandWhim (Original Poster) Round Two of the Playthrough (But Faster) I loaded back up on the Broken Causeway but this time I (hopefully) wasn't burdened by the unanchored tag. Since I'd already played the next few hours of the game before, everything was so much easier this go round. I knew where the enemies would spawn, which bosses showed up where, and which fights would wreck me if I wasn't careful.
I sped through a couple missions, skipped some dialogue, and prepped for the dangerous encounters before they happened. Quests that had been confusing before were straightforward now. Fights that I'd struggled with turned into cakewalks. For a while, everything was coming up roses. Then some bugs started showing up. My controls started to get a little laggy. Once, I tried to pull the trigger on my controls but my gun wouldn't fire. I tried it again and it popped off.
Another time I was storming a base filled with a bunch of scavengers and I tried running through the front door, but there was a noticeable delay where my character didn't move. That bug almost got my face shot off. I was getting a bunch of lag from when I input the commands and my character took action. It wasn't a constant thing. That would have pissed me all the way off. It was more like it only happened a few times, just to be annoying.
I figured that it was happening because Shards was janky as hell, and it was just another sign that everyone was right in that I should have skipped playing this game. The more I ran around, the more noticeable the bugs became. They started happening more frequently until they would hit every twenty minutes or so. But that wasn't nearly as bad as when my controls suddenly flipped in the middle of a firefight.
Have you ever played Smash Bros and you're fighting someone who picks up that weird flower that flips your controls so instead of running right to attack your opponent you turn left and sprint yourself off the map? It was like that. Somehow, all my buttons decided to do the exact opposite of what I wanted. It was pure chaos and it was only luck that I wasn't sent to respawn. I can't really show you a video of it because it doesn't really look like much. My character just spazzes out in the middle of town.
You can't see me huffing and getting frustrated about the controls. It just looks like someone forgot how to play momentarily. At that point I was getting more frustrated than when I'd lost my save. I figured that my controller was broken and the game was unplayable. I was about to log onto the forum and write a tirade about how shit the game was. It took everything in me not to call up my buddy and admit defeat and tell him I was just going to play Frontiers instead of trying to finish Shards.
That last thing was all that helped me power through the janky controls and weird bugs. It was pure spite that let me keep playing. I didn't want my buddy to have any ammo to come back at me with later on. Finally we get to the oddest part of the story. I was outside this small town called Yisfa, and I was searching through my inventory to see what I should sell and what I should hold onto. Let me repeat that. I was standing there, and then my character took three steps forward.
My thumb wasn't even on the joystick at the time. I instantly figured that was it. My controller was broken. I've got a Nintendo Switch and I've had problems with joy-con drift before, which is what I figured was happening now. My character had just walked into a tree and all I could do was sit there and swear under my breath while mentally adding "buy a new controller" to my to-do list. I pulled back on the joystick to get my guy unstuck, but there wasn't any response.
Just when I started cursing, my character stopped. Then he stretched and that made me go 'what the fuck?!' I didn't think that characters could stretch in Shards. But there he was, stretching out like he'd just woken from a long nap and he was trying to work the kinks out. My character looked down at his hands and flexed them slowly, like he was surprised to see them there. Meanwhile, I was just confusedly staring at the screen and wondering what I was seeing. The next thing I know, I got booted from the game.
Unlike when it happened when I got the unanchored tag, this time I wasn't sent back to the main menu. Instead, I got dumped into the character creation screen. I couldn't even get mad about it because it was my dumbass that decided to play this game. I figured that I'd just lost my save data again and all my controls were buggy and the game had shunted me out… but I was more confused than mad. I spent the next five minutes creating a new character with basically the same attributes as my last one.
He had the same eye color, hair, build, and distinguishing features. I tried to recreate him as closely as possible, then I hit confirm and started up the game again. The starting village formed up around me except… I wasn't back at the beginning of the game. For one, the village was a lot more on fire than I remembered it being. The whole place was either burning or burnt. Buildings were blackened with smoke and the ground was littered with charred bodies. The whole place was a complete ruin.
Having no clue what was going on, I opened up my character screen and cursed under my breath at what I saw there. All my gear, skills, talents, and quests had disappeared. I was once again starting from nothing. I minimized my screen and, not having a better idea, headed over to one of the bodies scattered about the village. I rolled it over to get a better look and noticed it was one of the NPCs that gives out quests for the starting character. His throat had been slashed.
Nearby was another NPC that had keeled over dead, but this one had his head caved in. Both of these NPCs had bled out in the street and my only thought was who is going to give me my starting quests now? Standing there in the middle of the burning village, trying to process what was going on, my eyes were drawn to motion coming from my left. I turned and saw a man strolling through the village, slowly making his way towards me. My jaw dropped.
He was wearing the boots that I'd stripped from a scavenger a few hours ago. He was wearing the pants I'd bought with my starting money. My pistols were holstered at his waist. He had on my jacket and my wide-brimmed hat. But what he wasn't wearing was my face. Instead, it was the same face that I knew from the underground fighting circuit back in Tech Reign. It was Corva. Now, I don't really know much about Corva. I wasn't a big fan of him back in Tech Reign and didn't really do much of his quests.
I think the main reason I didn't like him is because I absolutely hate when developers try to shoehorn melee and stealth mechanics into FPS games. It always feels so clunky to me, and thus I tend to avoid those kinds of quests. Corva, with his melee focused storyline, didn't interest me so I tended to stay away from him. I didn't have that same emotional connection as all of you. I did try to research him while writing this Field Report. I found some videos on YouTube that delve deeper into his character.
From what they say, he's in all the games and is a crowd favorite. But you all know this, so why am I rehashing it? If you're interested in the videos I watched to do research on Corva, you can find them here: https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=5mNpX5dHOAk https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=dQw4w9WgXcQ What I'm trying to say is that while all of you might have been incredibly shocked to see Corva in Shards, I was more pissed that he was wearing all my gear.
I managed to snap a few screenshots before control was taken away and a cutscene started. My character spoke to him and asked him why he burnt down the village. Corva paused and I instantly noted that he was completely different from his Tech Reign appearance. In that game he's part of the lucha-style fights in the underground circuit, and he plays the heel character and is loud and boisterous. But here, he didn't have that same swagger. He didn't have that same smirk on his face like I'd grown used to seeing.
Instead, he just stared at me as if wondering if he should spend the time talking when I was likely to be killed within the next five minutes. Finally he spoke.
"No witnesses." The cutscene ended, I was given back control of my new body, and I sprinted the fuck away. For the record, it was a lot less impressive than I was hoping for because my character didn't have points in Athletics anymore. My stamina bar was melting and the sound of my character panting at the exertion was coming through my headset. I didn't have a melee skill or a gun skill or any sort of weapon on my person.
All I had were my fists, which got me thinking that I should turn around and try to melee Corva in the face. When I made up my mind to do just that, I heard a gunshot that just missed me. I glanced back and noticed Corva wielding one of the pistols that I'd just earned for my character. Another shot rang out and clipped the ground just to my left, showering me in dust.
It felt like he was toying with me or trying to herd me, but then I realized my Gun skill had been at 5 and that wasn't all that accurate against a target serpentining all over the place. I ran and ran, trying to conserve my sprint button and build back my stamina a bit. I chanced a look back and saw Corva had gotten closer. That got me rushing into a still burning house.
I raced through the charred doorway, slammed into a wall, and nearly fumbled the turn that would lead me to a chunk of the house that had already burnt down and was exposed to the outside world. My character stumbled and a shot cracked past me close enough that the edges of my screen blurred. It was like, no matter how much distance I was putting between Corva and me, he was still there. He was always behind me, and it didn't even feel like he was really running to try to overtake me.
It reminded me of Michael Myers. I was stuck in a horror movie where the killer never sprinted but was somehow always there whenever you looked back. I might get some flak for what I'm about to say next. I just built up this fight but… I have to say that I don't have a good ending for it. I actually didn't manage to get away from Corva. While running away from him, two thoughts started warring in my head. The first was: holy hell, Corva is in Shards and I know about it and have proof. This is huge!
All I wanted to do was find a safe spot to quicksave my game, logoff, and then jump on this forum to share my discovery. But my second thought was: WWZD? What Would Zeke Do? How would he handle this dangerous situation? And the answer to that was simple. He'd start a thread and beg everyone for ideas on how to survive. Then he'd pick one or two options, do that thing, and then update everyone with what happened. So that's what I've decided to do.
Of course, now that I've said that I realize I probably shouldn't ask Binary for any help. He'd just dick me over with his advice and get me killed because he's jealous that I've discovered more and bigger lore than him. I found Corva hiding out in Shards and I've only been playing the Fracture-verse games for a month or so. I mean… what the hell's he been doing this whole time? So… anyone other than Binary have any thoughts or advice for me? RedCarpetManiac DOOD!!!
Not exactly how a Field Report normally goes, but I'm all for doing more Zeke style action sequences. Mirin' Hmm. That's interesting. We could start a whole new section of the forum where we talk about fanfics that are related to what Zeke is doing. One person could pop into Frontiers and see the ramifications of everything that Zeke has done. Another person could do what Zeke's doing but with Null Protocol. Novalis I can see it.
An entire subsection of this forum overrun with Zeke fanfictions and people larping like they were stuck in the Fracture-verse.
