Chương 44: Update

Sorry to disappoint guys, this is not a chapter. But it might be even better than a chapter, though: It is a promise of a chapter! Tomorrow! First of all, I'm sorry for disappearing for as long as I did, and especially for not communicating much while I was gone. When I stopped posting, the plan was really to take a few days, rebuild a decent backlog, and come back once I wasn't writing directly against the clock anymore but looking back at that now, I am genuinely astounded by the sheer confidence I had in myself.

I just briefly forgot that I had a day job. See, on average, one chapter takes me somewhere around three to four hours before it starts looking like something coherent and polished enough that I am comfortable putting it in front of people. So sitting down for another three or four hours of concentrated work is not always the first thing your soul yearns for after eight hours at your actual job and the commute home, lol. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

The good news is that I now have 10 chapters ready, and the story will officially start posting again tomorrow. I really am sorry for making you guys wait. This whole thing has honestly been a learning experience for me because this is the first time I've ever taken writing this seriously. Before this story, it was something I did very sporadically, so there was never really a schedule. As for the silence, I should have communicated better.

My thinking at the time was that repeatedly posting updates that amounted to "still writing, no chapter yet" would get old pretty quickly, especially when I didn't have a firm return date to give you. So: lesson learned. Thank you for being patient with me, and thank you to everyone who kept checking in, I received a ton of messages, even on Discord, which surprised me because I do not remember ever sharing my Discord here, lol.

I also logged into Royal Road and found the message icon sitting at 100+, which is a little terrifying considering I generally do not check my RR messages very often. I will go through them as soon as I can, though, and I really do appreciate everyone who reached out. Thank you to everyone who is somehow still here, and once again, sorry for the wait.
