Greed Island was created by Ging Freecss and eleven companions. The silver-haired girl who had detected Aren's group was one of those companions. Eta. One of the creators of Greed Island, the "E" in the game's name. Generally speaking, she was responsible for the explanation given when players entered the game and for the final question connected to card No. 000.
She was also the mechanical-looking girl who, in the future Aren remembered, would notice the Phantom Troupe entering the island and contact Razor to expel them. Monitoring the sea around Greed Island for intruders or accidental arrivals was probably part of her work as well. Aren's yacht had not escaped her surveillance. Razor was also one of Greed Island's creators. He represented the "R." As an Emitter, he was responsible for Greed Island's emission-based system, movement spells, and handling outside intruders.
He also held the special card used to expel people who entered the game through improper methods. Eliminate. Razor had once been a violent death-row inmate. After Ging Freecss captured him and placed trust in him, Razor chose to help build Greed Island. Judging from the strength he showed in the future, his aura reserve was likely around the same level as the Phantom Troupe, perhaps sixty to seventy thousand units. In the outside world, he was already an extremely powerful fighter.
At that moment, Razor stood inside a warehouse that had been remodeled into a training room. Around him were more than a dozen death-row inmates dressed in imp-like costumes. They had been hired to play NPCs inside the game under strict supervision.
"When you play NPCs in the game, you are absolutely forbidden to attack players..." Razor had been explaining the rules they had to obey after being released from prison when Eta's voice suddenly sounded in his mind.
"Razor, a yacht appeared on the western sea. It is heading toward Greed Island. Please go send them back to the mainland." Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author's consent. Report any sightings. Razor frowned.
'At a time like this?'
"No problem. Leave it to me." He answered Eta in his mind. After ending the communication, Razor looked at the inmates before him. Their eyes still held a dangerous, unruly light. Razor had only recently stepped away from the status of a death-row inmate himself. He understood people like this far too well. He understood the bone-deep recklessness in men like them. These criminals had only just been hired. There was no chance they would obediently follow orders so easily. Only absolute power could make them submit.
Originally, Razor had brought them here two months early because he planned to punish the first person who stepped out of line and use that punishment as a warning. He had not expected an intruder incident to happen right after they arrived. If he left now, these people would definitely try to run. That was what troubled him. As Greed Island's main combat force and the only person carrying Eliminate, he had to go. It was not that he feared these criminals could escape.
With spell cards, Razor did not believe they could truly leave or hide on the island. At worst, he could use Magnetism to reach them one by one and kill them. The real problem was time. If he killed this whole batch and requested another group of death-row inmates, then trained them from scratch, it might be too late. Greed Island would officially open in two months. If possible, Razor wanted them to behave. After a long silence, aura gathered in Razor's hand. It condensed into a crimson ball.
"Hey. What are you doing? According to our agreement, we haven't done anything yet. You can't kill us." The inmates went pale when they saw the terrifying energy in his hand. Razor ignored their shouting. He tossed the crimson aura ball high into the air, then jumped and slammed it down like a volleyball spike. The perfectly round aura ball distorted under the force and shot toward the inmates like a cannonball. It skimmed over their heads and smashed into the ground behind them.
One man's small devil hat was grazed by the ball and shredded into pieces. The moment the aura ball struck the floor, crimson light flashed. Then it exploded. A huge roar shook the warehouse, and a deep crater appeared in the ground. Just as the inmates had said, they had not done anything yet. Razor had no intention of killing them immediately. This strike was a warning. It was also a test. If one of them had been stupid enough to counterattack, Razor would have a reason to execute that person on the spot.
That would create the example he needed. Unfortunately, no one stepped forward. Whether they were frozen with fear or had guessed his intention, they only retreated and trembled. No one attacked. A flash of regret passed through Razor's eyes. At this point, Razor had not yet become the easygoing man he would be later. His eyes were still sharp, and everyone saw that regret clearly. The inmates wanted to grab his collar and ask what the hell he was trying to do, but after that strike, none of them dared move.
They could only curse silently. Razor's aura erupted. A violent, purple-red pressure mixed with the killing intent he had developed as a death-row inmate and crashed down on the already terrified criminals. Since no one stepped out to die, he would deepen the lesson.
"I have something to handle. All of you stay here quietly. Under the contract, you must obey my orders unconditionally. If you violate it, I can deal with you however I want."
"You can also try running. The whole island is our playground. If you have the nerve, try it." After saying that, Razor no longer paid them any attention. He took out a card. White aura wrapped around him. The next instant, Razor turned into a shooting star and flew across the sky.
