TIMELINE 0 AV - The Treaty of the Iyr and Blackvatr. ~50AV - Blackvatr Crisis II 2000 AV - Adam, the main character, appears. INFO Realms [Titles of Power] Trained (Level 1) They have mastered the absolute basics of their techniques. The typical guard is typically Trained, and compared to the common masses they are quite capable. Adept (Level 3) They have mastered the basics, and have begun to learn more unique techniques. Those who have reached this realm may lead other typical guards.
Expert (Level 5) They have mastered beyond the basics, those who are able to strike twice instead of once. Those who are considered elite, for this is the first major realm and often the dream of most who step into the path of a warrior. Those who reach this realm are those who can expect to be treated extremely well by even nobles and can often find themselves living a middle class life through their skill. Master (Level 9) They have reached the next level of proficiency beyond Expert.
Those who have reached this realm are often Vice Commanders of their respective Orders, or bodyguards of greater nobility, even the likes of royalty. Grandmaster (Level 13) They have reached the next level of proficiency beyond Master. Those who have reached this realm are often Grand Commanders of their respective Orders, and are those who can clash with Paragons. Paragon (Level 17) They have reached the next level of proficiency beyond Grandmaster.
Those who have reached this realm are often the most legendary figures across the land, like the previous King's Sword, or the Knight of Death, or may be one of the most elite even within the Iyr. Peak (Level 20) They have reached the highest level of proficiency of the natural limit. Those who have reached this realm are probably half dragons, those with the great resources, and enough respect, or fear, to allow them to step into such a realm. Idol (Level 21+) They have gone beyond the natural limit.
Those who are more than likely mythical beings, those unknown to even great warriors, although dragons are also considered Idols considering their great might. A typical Adult Dragon is considered an Idol, however, they are considered so along with the likes of a typical Ancient Dragon, but no one would consider them equal in power.
OTHER Realms [Dimensions] There are also Realms (with a capital R) that are to do with the various "Planes" of the world, like the Lower Realm (which the story takes places) and the Upper/Higher Realms, and Beyond. It is rumoured that figures can slip between the Realms, in which time flows differently, and that, well, that may be true, but we don't talk about that.
You don't have to really worry about this too much, I'm sure this will never have any impact on the story and will never become relevant: D LANDS Iyr To the west, nestled within the hills and mountain, the secretive Iyr, which is known as the land of Blood and Steel. It is said to be fifty thousand strong, not even the size of a small town within other lands, whom worship their Heathen Lord, Baktu, whom they suggest is Lord Sozain, God of Death, but certainly not.
They are formed of Iyrmen, whom some may confuse for human, devilkin, or horcs, but they are Iyrmen, you can tell by the tattoos on their foreheads when they are adults, and by the sheer audacity their children possess, and should you harm one of their children, they will commit all manner of atrocities in return, regardless of who, what, where, when, or why. It is said they have even hunted Demigods who have dared to do so.
The Iyr is led by a coalition of Great Elders, from the likes of Elder Peace, Elder Wrath, Elder Teacher, Elder Gold, Elder Forest, and the Chief of the Iyr, and the ever elusive Elder Story, who apparently is unknown even to the Iyrmen, but certainly such a figure is merely a mythical figure. There are other Elders too, from the typical Elders, those who look out for the shared families, and then the Front Iyr Elder, and Elder Shaman.
The greatest force of the Iyr is called the Ten Paragons, ten figures who are, apparently, Paragons. There is a saying, "One Hundred Paragons, One Hundred Grandmasters, and One Hundred Masters" when speaking of the Iyr's great might, but that is likely a rumour formed by the tiny nation to keep its neighbours eyes away from them. It is also said that all Iyrmen eventually reach the realm of an Expert, and that every family, of the roughly one hundred or so, each possess one Grandmaster. Yeah, okay.
Beyond the Great Elders, and the Ten Paragons, the most well known Iyrmen are the likes of Black Storm, Bearded Dragon, Mad Dog, Bloodblade, not to be confused with Blood Blade, and a great many more. Elflands South of the Iyr, beyond a narrow coast, and within the hills and mountains, elves dwell. They remain there, and other than the Massacre roughly ten years before the story, the elves remain more secretive and elusive than the Iyr.
It is said that the Iyr has secret dealing with the Elflands, but considering they, too, had lost many of their own to the elves, it is unlikely. Aldland Find this and other great novels on the author's preferred platform. Support original creators!
East of the Iyr, and the Iyr would suggest it is not subject to, is this kingdom of roughly twenty million that one might confuse as an empire, formed up of five regions, the north, south, east, west, and central regions, ruled by King Justinian Blackwater, and the Four Duchal Families, and various other nobles who form up a council, and whatnot.
The King is not an absolute monarch, and does not, although he may suggest otherwise, outrank any of the other Dukes or Duchesses, although he would never say such against his aunt, the Grand Duchess of the north, who he rarely visits. The people, formed of mostly pale or tan skinned humans, pray to the Major Divine, and pay a great respect to the Minor Divine, and some even pray to the other minor deities too.
The north is ruled by the Blacksnow family, a family related to the Blackwater, and its most staunch ally. The east is ruled by the Eastsea family, the south by the Goldport family, and the west by the Lionheart family. Aldland is also home to various Orders, three within each region. Orders of Aldland Central Aldland. King's Blades, Eagle Wing, Three Hundred Blades Northern Aldland. Ice Blades, Snow Storm, Black Moon Eastern Aldland. Purple Blades, Golden Spears, Shimmering Swords Southern Aldland.
Thousand Hunts, Floral Sun, Cherry Blades Western Aldland. Steel Boars, Steel Bears, Steel Wolves There is also Life's Rose, blessed by Mother Soza herself, so it is said, and so not considered one of the official Orders, and which assists in the mediation within war time, to the point that even Aswadasad respect their authority.
The Order of the Wings is another Order, and though they are neutral in the affairs of the world, focusing upon supernatural threats, as opposed to the threats that is mortal greed, vanity, and so on. Each Order has its Grand Commander, a figure with great power, often the strongest of their respective Order, as well as various Vice Commanders, and other Elders.
However, the greatest warriors are not just bound to Orders, for there are many outside of the Orders who have made a great name for themselves, like the King's Blade, the King's personal guard, who is often considered among the best, if not the best, of all the warriors within Aldland.
There are also the Blades, not to be confused with the King's Blade, and there are a great many other warriors too, from the various regions, although some may suggest that considering the north makes up such a small population, like the Iyr, they are home to a great many great warriors considering their population. Also, within the capital of Aldland, Jaeryael, a Gold Dragon, slumbers, ready to protect the city should it come to harm. Horclands Northern of Western Aldland, full of the grey skinned horcs.
They are a savage people, more so than even the Iyr. Drakkenlen North of Aldland, ruled by Queen Silvari, a Silver Dragon named Entalia, for Queen Silvari seems to be some kind of title. A land, as you might expect, of dragons and mostly silver and white scaled drakken, the people who look like half dragons, but aren't quite half dragons, though are certainly blessed, and favoured, by dragons. Snowlands A land of snow beyond even Drakkenlen.
Noska A hardy land to the north east of Aldland, full of people, pale skinned humans, whom are more savage than even the Iyrmen, and perhaps even the horcs, where strength and glory matters above all.
Aswadasad East of Aldland, the rival nation of Aswadasad, the land of sun and gold, a shendom of roughly twenty million that one might confuse as an empire, formed up of five regions, the north, south, east, west, and central regions, ruled by Shen Hussun Khal, and the Four Faros, and various other nobles who form up a council, and whatnot.
The Shen is not an absolute monarch, and does not, although he may suggest otherwise, outrank any of the other Faros, whom command their own domain, and, the nobility of Aswadasad are not even often respected within the various villages, who are ruled by their Rais, and some of which are formed up of drakken, lionfolk, devilkin, halfzers, and many more.
Whereas the Aldish pay respect to all the Major Divine, and though Aswadasad does respect them too, their main focus is upon Lord Noor, God of Light, and the Aswadians, tan and dark skinned humans, also grant him a great many other titles which, for the sake of time, I shall leave unwritten.
Aswadasad, too, has its own Orders, each within the various regions, though it is perhaps the Black Lions who are most famous, as the Shen's personal Order, though there are also the likes of Black Mountain, the Order which pays respect to Lady Arya, Goddess of War, even within Aswadasad, and is home to her oldest temple, although further east, someone may claim to that title instead.
Each Order has its Fariq, their Grand Commander, and a Mustashalur, their advisor, as well as various Fariq Thanwi, Vice Commanders, and other Elders. However, as in Aldland, the greatest warriors are not just bound to Orders, in fact, many would suggest only the greatest could be found outside of the Orders, for within Aswadasad, and its many villages whom pay token respect to the Shen, one can find a great many figures, and it is said that many hidden dragons hide within the shadows of Aswadasad.
Confederacy of Free States Further east of Aswadasad, and a great portion of which was once under Ancient Aswadasad's control. It is a land of more than just humans, full of the elemental inasir, giants, dwarves, elves, halfzers, mermen, drakken, and more. Apparently it's at war with an empire to the east led by a child of one of the Divine? It doesn't matter, it's thousands of miles away from where the story takes place, so certainly will never become relevant.
Free Territories Within the Confederacy are the Free Territories, also known as the Tribe States, whom are the long time foe of the Confederacy of Free States due to the animosity formed between them for centuries. MISC Adventurer's Guild. An organisation which possesses great favour from the lands they operate within, and provide a critical service of gathering mercenaries for work. Their network reaches even distant lands, and they are well respected, and considered to be politically neutral. Wizards of Skool.
The floating castle is home to a great many wizards, those who dare to flirt with greater magics, and those wish to study the ancient secrets of the world. Dragons. Great beings, able to change the history of a region, and even force nobility to behave. Sometimes targets of adventurers, often of Iyrmen, though they are less likely to be killed by the latter, somehow.
