The first thing she noticed was a note and a disclaimer at the top of the page. Due to your premature death, you will be offered some rewards. You can select from the options below. As you advance through the tiers in your class, new rewards will become available. As you select some rewards, other reward options may appear in the future. Your experiences in the future might prompt other reward options to appear.

The normal advancement times for each tier of your class will be capped at 1 year. Advancements that happen before that are unaffected. [Stat Checker] cost: 1 point. Gain the ability to view other people's stats. [Fat Stack] cost: 2 points. Receive a large inheritance. Receive the equivalent of 10, 000 diamond coins, in whatever denominations you would prefer. Kiara's eyes got big as she looked at the rewards. Then, she laughed. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. 10, 000 diamond coins?

That was an absurd amount of money. That couldn't be real, could it? Diamond coins were something kids would pretend to have when they played together. Surely only the richest nobles and the royals had ever actually seen one? What would she even do with that kind of money? She could buy every single house in her village back home, and it wouldn't even begin to put a dent in that much wealth.

With how much her parents were struggling financially in the past few years, she was strongly tempted to just pick that reward right away. She honestly couldn't even focus on the other rewards, that one just stared her in the face. But could she really justify spending 2 of her 3 points on just that reward? As an adult, Kiara had helped provide income for her family by helping her parents work the farm, and selling the livestock and produce to their neighbors. Some of the older folk in the village still preferred the barter system, but most everyone these days just used coins instead, even though the village was small. On a good week, Kiara's family would bring in anywhere from 5-10 silver coins.

She was pretty sure the entire last year they had only earned about 30 gold coins, the equivalent of 300 silver, although no one really paid with gold coins in the village. Everyone mostly used iron and bronze, with a few silvers here and there. There was a town near the village that they occasionally travelled to, with a larger market, and one time Kiara and Ava had paid 5 iron coins each to enter the tent of a travelling merchant, who had a ruby coin on display.

They paid 5 iron coins just to see it, and it had been worth every coin. Now, she was being offered 10, 000 diamond coins, just like that? She would never have to work again! She imagined buying a castle somewhere, and hiring servants to tend the gardens. How wonderful life could be! She refocused on the text. She doubted that anyone within 500 miles of her home could accept or exchange a diamond coin, so she didn't really want those. However, hauling around a bunch of smaller coins could be troublesome.

Now that she thought about it, how would she even carry around 10, 000 diamond coins, much less more of the smaller denominations. Crap. I guess I can't realistically purchase that reward. Her heart sank, and she navigated back to the rewards menu. To her surprise, a new reward had appeared in response to her dilemma. [Soul Space] cost: 1 point. Your soul can function as a spatial storage device, accessible only by you. The space itself will be spherical, with a diameter of 5 feet.

As a bonus, this space can serve as a coin denomination exchanger for a 10% fee. Ha! The World Engine was a cheapskate. It had the ability to create money out of thin air, and it wanted to charge her a fee to exchange her coins? Oh well, there wasn't much she could do about it now. Free money was still free money! Just then, she reached the top of the hill. She dismissed the text, and glanced around. In the distance, she spotted what looked to be a city of some kind, so she decided to head that direction.

Before moving off, she purchased the [Soul Space] and [Fat Stack] rewards. After some quick hand measurements and mental math, she figured she could probably fit a few million coins in her soul space, so she adjusted the denominations of [Fat Stack] accordingly. She wanted to avoid the exchange fee in the future if she could help it, and she knew that anything gold or below could be exchanged in a town without any issues.

She took a guess that some of the larger coins could also be exchanged in larger cities, if needed. Having said that, she still couldn't think of a way to fit as many as she needed in her soul space, and she didn't want to accidentally leave a bunch of money on the battlefield if her mental math had been wrong. She tried to keep it closer to 1, 000, 000 total coins, but she ended up going over by a bit. She also kept a single diamond coin in the mix, just to see what it looked like.

Iron coins: 10, 000 Bronze coins: 10, 000 Silver coins: 100, 000 Gold coins: 1, 000, 000 Platinum coins: 99, 999 Ruby coins: 79, 889 Diamond coins: 1 The pile of coins appeared in her soul space, and although she could tell they were there, she didn't feel any increased weight from having them there. The soul space was like a perfectly comfortable backpack that she didn't even notice unless she focused on it. Once she focused on it, it became apparent what all was inside, it felt very intuitive.

She pulled out the diamond coin and looked at it, turning it over in her hands. It really was glorious to look at, and she stared at it for quite awhile as she walked. A smile slowly spread across her face. She had more reward points, so she glanced back at the reward options. [Upgrade Stats] cost: 0 points. You have +135 unspent Stats points. She laughed to herself, and wondered if the World Engine had heard her think to herself that it was cheap, even though she hadn't directed her thoughts towards it. That would certainly explain the reduced exchange fee on the upgraded version of the soul space ability. She wasn't sure which additional rewards to choose, and didn't want to waste her points only to regret it later. She also now knew that more reward options might present themselves in the near future, so she decided to keep that point for now.

She wanted to check out the [Upgrade Stats] reward, since it was free, but that would have to wait, as she had just arrived at the city.
