I wait around for several painful moments before the teleportation takes a hold of us. The instant we appear in the intermission room, I head over to the treasure chest and take out the seal. The item is quite intuitive, and I simply lay it on the keyhole of the chest. The notification appears asking me if I want to split the loot and whatnot. Naturally, I pick the sharing option. But I don't bother to see what I got, instead I rush over and pick up Ari. I am not very gentle, it isn't like I am going to break her.
Plus it is quite hard to get a grip around her armor, intentionally most likely. Should I have skipped getting the treasure? Absolutely not. Ari is stable as far as I can tell, she just isn't healing. Despite the circumstances, I must still think rationally. Plus I am sure she would kill me if I ran out without grabbing the treasure just out of concern for her. Also, it barely took a minute for me to grab the treasure. Barely any time, considering how long the healing process is likely to take.
For the first time, I walk through the portal that will take us out of the dungeon, rather than to a higher floor. The sensation is quite a bit different, and far more disorienting. But I quickly got used to it, and reorient myself. I appeared in the middle of the central plaza, near the main gate. A bunch of people are clustered all around, preparing to head in themselves. But they quickly take note of me and the state of Ari, and step aside.
Even the few jerks amongst the crowd are dragged to the side by their companions or others. My mind is fixated on the direction of the hospital though. Otherwise known as a place of healing, apparently it is full of the best healers that you can find. It is a weird word, one that I thankfully learned of before I went inside the dungeon. Guess that book about Carnia's history came in handy, after all. It even told me the location of the one nearest to this gate.
I storm into the building, and the person sitting behind the reception desk takes one look at me. She sighs and uses some form of telepathy I think. The lobby immediately fills up as healers of various sorts teleport into the room. They lay out a stretcher and motion for me to place Ari on it, which I do. Luma also stays next to Ari, stealthily sneaking in, as no one else can see her. I am told that they will do their best, and then they teleport her away to do whatever.
They didn't even ask what happened or anything. But I guess they don't really need it, whatever diagnostic skills they have will give far more information than I could provide. With them gone, I kinda just stand there in the lobby. The receptionist smiles at me warmly, "There is a waiting room, if you would like to stay." — While I wait, there is nothing for me to do but check out the stuff I got. I did ask if there was anything I could do, of course.
But I was quickly dismissed, they said maybe if I was a true healer. Which is fair enough, I may have healing spells, but I am really only doing it as a side thing. So first up, the treasure from the dungeon.
'Ding', You have applied a treasure seal. Loot upgraded by one tier.
'Ding', You have received shared rewards. Personal Contributions: 50% Rewards received: 52 units of Infernal Spider Silk (Rare), 25 units Infernal Spider Carapace (Uncommon), Amulet of The Infernal Queen (Uncommon), Lesser Ring of Perception (Common), 72 units Spiritium Ore (Common), 1, 564 gold coins As I glance at the rewards, everything seems normal. Until my eyes see the one thousand five hundred gold coins. I nearly jump to my feet and yelp, that is quite a fair bit of gold.
Why the fuck did I get that much of it? Previous floors were giving me ten or twenty gold at most. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. It takes me a few seconds to connect the dots. The treasure seal. It must've taken the increase by one tier quite literally. Thus upgrading silver coins into gold ones. Which is quite frankly overpowered.
I can see why Ari said the seal was priceless, how can you price an item that increases the value of things so directly? I presume all of the other items also had their tiers increased. Thus meaning they originally would've been one rarity lower. Or maybe it was picked from some set of items in a higher rarity pool? Honestly not quite sure how any of this works, and I doubt anyone understands even a shred of it. Which is fine, because I got a whole ton of shiny loot nonetheless.
A lot of it was crafting materials, which is good. However, the one that I am most intrigued with is the ore. It seems quite out of place, given I haven't done any ore gathering nor metallurgy whatsoever. So, I inspect it. Spiritium Ore (Common) A strange white ore of unknown origins. Theories exist as to how it comes into existence, but none truly agree. However, everyone does agree that it does not naturally occur within the world, there is some process or requirement to produce it.
The ore itself is not particularly remarkable in terms of base stats. However, it has the unique property of being highly attuned to spiritual energy. Some even say that when processed in the right way, it can be used to store the strange energy. Do be warned, the process of refinement for this ore is quite strange. It is also far more difficult than most other ores that you will find in the world. Thus it is best left to a master metallurgist to figure out. Hmm. So basically, it is a material perfect for me.
But, I certainly lack the knowledge and skill to use it. Plus, I don't really feel like getting into metallurgy. Perhaps some alloying here and there, but I have never really been one to refine stuff from raw ores. That process was grueling in my old world. While it is sure to be a lot more interesting here, it just doesn't seem that appealing. It also seems quite easy to fuck up. So I shall simply leave the problem of finding a metallurgist capable of processing it in my later drawer.
For now, I take a look at the rest of the rewards. Infernal Spider Silk (Rare) An already valuable silk but in rare quality. The material is infused with hints of fire, and anything made from it is sure to keep the user nice and warm. It is also extraordinarily soft and comfortable, yet still possesses the ridiculous strength associated with spider silk. This silk is fit for even some lower tier nobles. Infernal Spider Carapace (Uncommon) The carapace of the infernal spider is tougher than most metals.
It also can provide almost complete immunity to fire, if used in the right way. However, it is quite weak to water, and will crack at the slightest exposure. The carapace also has various alchemical uses due to its high concentration of fire and protection essentia. Amulet of The Infernal Queen (Uncommon) It is said that the Infernal Queen resides within this amulet. Whether that is true, who can really say? What can be said is that this amulet provides a large amount of fire resistance to the wielder.
It also helps to keep the user warm, and when infused with mana, can even heat up a small area around them. Lesser Ring of Perception (Common) This ring provides a minor boost to perception [spirit] when worn. Why did you even inspect this? Did you expect it to do anything else? Like, it's literally all in the name, c'mon. A bright light appears somewhere above my head. For I have just had the most brilliant idea of what to make next. Whether I can pull it off, well that is another story.
I haven't really done much tailoring. But I am sure I can figure it out, it is for a noble goal, after all. Oh and as for the stuff I got, it's cool I suppose. The ring and amulet I equip without much fuss. It turns out that the amulet doesn't even replace my other one. I get the sense that I can wear three of them at once as long as they aren't too similar. As for rings, well I presume I can wear one per finger. Perhaps I could even make toe rings too! Though that might be a bit too far.
I might be able to find something to do with some of the materials. But I will likely just sell the bulk of them, I don't particularly fancy mass producing stuff. Even if it could earn me way more money than the base materials. I wanna adventure and get stronger, not just sit behind a forge all day making the same stuff over and over. I did that for a while, and yeah, it really ain't for me. Creating new things is where the fun of crafting is really at.
Speaking of getting stronger, I've got a fancy new specialization or whatever to awaken.
