As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a magical girl. Monsters never attacked Earth. No portals opened spewing out demons, no alien invasion rained from the sky. When magical girls arrived anyway, the only enemy they found to face was each other. Fleeing an abusive home and a shattered relationship, Gabrielle Harper suddenly finds her greatest wish made into reality. She takes to her new world of double lives, drugs, and violence like a fish to water, thriving in both of her personas. But she’s still only a small fish, and the ocean is full of sharks. The Gravity of the Situation is a slow-burn magical girl crime drama exploring what happens when great power doesn’t come with great responsibility. Major inspirations for the story include Worm, Breaking Bad, and the excellent Madoka Magica fanfic To The Stars.
